Yes, you can rent a button punch tool. Manual button punch tools will be rented under the following guidelines:

  • A deposit of $1,395.00 must be provided as security for the return of the tool.
  • The deposit and rental fee including shipping charges are due prior to shipment of tool.
  • An easy two sentence button punch rental agreement must be signed by the borrower. This agreement requires the borrower to return the tool on schedule or buy the tool for $1,395.00 (which is the normal cost).
  • If the tool is returned late the borrower will be charged an additional $ 250 per week.
  • If the tool is not returned within four weeks the deposit will be forfeited and the customer can keep the tool.
  • The borrower is responsible for picking up the button punch tool and returning the button punch tool. Guesstimated shipping charges are $ 50 each way.

The amount of time a customer can borrow the button punch tool will depend on the size of the job. The larger the job, the more time a customer can borrow the tool, the smaller the job, the less time a customer will have to borrow the tool.

Small Job – Under 2,500 Square Feet

The customer can borrow the tool for 3 business days.

Day 1: is when the customer picks up the tool, or the day the tool is received (if shipped out).

Day 2: the tool is used on the second day

Day 3: the tool is to be returned to us or shipped back to us.

In a typical 2,500 square foot job, it should take 2 hours or less to completely button punch the job.

Medium Job – 2,500 Square Feet to 10,000 Square Feet

The borrower may keep the tool for 5 business days instead of 3 business days.

Day 1: is when the customer picks up the tool, or the day the tool is received (if shipped out).

Days 2-4: the tool is used on days 2-4.

Day 5: the tool is to be returned to us or shipped back to us.

Large Job – Over 10,000 Square Feet

The tool can be used for a longer period of time dependent upon the schedule and square footage.

  • 2,500 to 3,500 button punches per eight hour day
  • Time Guesstimate = 1 hour per 1,500 square feet of metal decking
  • It depends on how often the decking needs to be punched

The Deck Demon button punch tool is designed to button punch or crimp the side lap of steel decking. It will work on metal decking as light as 24 gauge and as heavy as 16 gauge for both roof and floor deck.

A button punch is a tool designed to attach two sheets of metal decking. Steel decking has a male and female sidelap. The button punch will crimp both sheets together. In a roof deck application it increases the diaphragm shear values. When used on a floor deck it keeps the deck from separating during a concrete pour.
